Plenty of reasons to think prices should drop, but no big drops yet. The Beacon, 11/8/2021
With natural gas storage season ending with strong injections into storage, a warm start to winter and weather forecasts that are at very least not pessimistic, and (slightly) moderating European natural gas prices, energy buyers have plenty of evidence that current prices are too high, at least through the winter. But prices through Q1 2022, while volatile on a daily basis, seem to be holding within a range between $5.25 and $5.75/mmbtu, driving electricity prices up, as well. When you hedge and what you hedge will be important this winter — make sure you have expert help to avoid paying more than you should.
